Jun 12, 2004 · The Alps seems to be a specialty climbing TT wheel. I believe they are also used some in RR and crits as a wheel that is a compromise between aero and light weight. From the things I have read a HED trispoke front and a Disk rear is your best combination for 95% of all TT including those through rolling hills (at least by the numbers).

Oct 8, 2005 · Hi, I have a set of Hed Alps that I purchased this past February. They are a great set of wheels, very stiff and well made, Hed's customer service is great. However, I have had some problems with them. About a month after I fist bought them, I began to have random blowouts on the front wheel.

The Alps rims are structural carbon hoops with a lightweight alloy rim cap. An alloy rim section lets you brake confidently in any weather using any brake pad. The carbon section is high modulus cloth, laid over a structural foam core.

Jun 21, 2004 · Hed Alps are REALLY FAST. . .and durable enough that you can train on them everyday as well. I train on them on my Kestrel Talon SL all the time. I swap out to H3s for races, but will use the Alps on windier days or mountains. You really can’t go wrong with these wheels.
