Bixi, or Bi Xi (Wade–Giles: Pi-hsi), is a figure from Chinese mythology. One of the nine sons of the Dragon King, [citation needed] he is depicted as a dragon with the shell of a turtle.

The Eastern Han stone bixie discovered at Yulin, Xuchang (Fig.1) was carved out of an entire chunk of stone. It is in a standing posture, head high and chest out, with glaring eyes and an open mouth. It has two ears, prominent cheeks, a contracted belly, and bulging muscles on the legs.

The present bixie is a superb example of the sculptural practices of the period, and the era's enthusiasm for miraculous creatures that were believed to be portents possessing supernatural power. A number of similar jade bixie attributed to the Han dynasty are known.
