HP 48gII
The Hp 48gii (newest version) is a near clone of the Hp 50g except for no SD card slot, RAM at 256K, non-flashable ROM and a slide on cover. The slide on cover is actually better for many as it is very tough and durable and keeps the keyboard from getting a workout in a book bag.
Evolution of the HP 48gII
Oct 13, 2020 · For the second iteration of the 48gII, it adopted the 50g approach, with the mini-B connector now being a USB port, and a new port (basically a semi-proprietary version of the mini-B port that was seen in some digital cameras around the turn of the millennium) that provided a serial signal (and once again needed a special cable, but a different ...

I do have a HP-48GX. It has served my great for 11 years now. It is my personal calulator and I do not like using it at work. My office bought me a HP-48GII. I am on the fourth one now and each has had a keyboard failure after 3-4 months of use. I talked to an HP tech person and she said that they were all from the same manufacturing batch.

Hopefully the OP was talking about the 48G, and not the 48gII. IMHO, that is not a 48 family machine at all. It should have been called the 49gII or 49g- or the "get a 50g". It is clearly part of the 49 family. However, that all said, it is not a bad calc, just …
Added Feature on the 48gii???
I was under the impression, from the original data sheet, that it did not have the SD port. I would have thought that HP would have stressed something as revolutionary as a SD port on its data sheet. So, is Samson Cables mistaken, or did HP go back and add some more stuff to the 48gii? This might give hope to the 33s. -ben
