The HMT 400 mine blast and ballistic protection system was developed for Supacat by Jankel Armouring Ltd. It features armour plating beneath the crew compartment and on the vehicle sides, as well as attenuating seats that absorb shock from any mine blast.

The HMT 400 is termed the Jackal by the British Army. It is well-proven in the harsh terrain of the Afghanistan battlefield, the 400 has a unique air suspension system that allows the selection of a variable ride height to match the terrain and also, enable internal loading within CH-47 Chinook.

The High Mobility Transporter (HMT) vehicle platform is produced in three variants the HMT 400 (4x4), the HMT 600 (6x6) and the HMT Extenda (configurable between 4x4 and 6x6). [5] A HMT 800 (8x8) variant is also available.

Working with Supacat, Babcock has been contracted to deliver High Mobility Transporters (HMT 400 series) light armoured vehicles to the British Army.

Although very similar to its predecessor Jackal 2A, the 4x4 Jackal 3 has been improved and upgraded, most notably by its ability to be quickly changed to a 6x6 configuration. In addition, the vehicles' adaptability is even greater by its fitting of "mission specific load beds".
