For Xmas -- obviously because I was a good boy -- I received the Admiralty plans for the Roberts from the National Maritime Museum. I have another set of plans for the Abercrombie -- and I'm pretty much stunned how different they are, particularly in the actual height/draught of the ship.

Sep 21, 2014 · HMS Roberts was the first of a two ship class of 15” Monitors. Her keel was laid on April 30th 1940 at John Browns shipyard on the Clyde, and was launched on the 1st of February 1941.

HMS Roberts was a Royal Navy Roberts-class monitor of the Second World War. She was the second monitor to be named after Field Marshal Frederick Roberts, 1st Earl Roberts. Built by John Brown & Company, of Clydebank, she was laid down 30 April 1940, launched 1 February 1941 and completed on 27 October 1941.

Nov 29, 2022 · I decided to build Trumpeters 1/350 HMS Roberts - an Abercrombie type monitor with 1 2x15 inch gun turret. I've pre-painted the base of the hull (if this is the right phrase?) in black, then overlaid a red for the main hull.

Built during World War II, The Roberts class monitors of the Royal Navy consisted of two heavily gunned vessels. The Roberts and Abercrombie. Designed primarily for shore bombardment, their most noticeable feature was two 15-inch guns in a twin mounting and a high observation platform.

Jun 6, 2008 · Very detailed plans for Abercrombie/Roberts are available from the booklet by Profile Morskie. Buy a Strike hull and the booklet and you can make a very detailed model. I sold the mould for Robert's hexagonal barbette to Strike but don't see it listed. Abercrombie has a normal round barbette.

Some of there plans might be off as to the right AA or raidar for the time period or other little thinks but a modeler knows to use dated photo's to show a ship at any time period . This is the plug for Roberts in 1/96 . Your appetite to build plugs is enormous!
