(1920-1994)[/B] He was a pom pom gunner aboard HMS Kelly and he was one of the Kelly survivors from the Battle of Crete. Born in 1920 in the Hessle area of Yorkshire, he joined the Navy very young (lying about his age, he joined up in 1936) and served on several vessels in both peace and war time.
