A White Ensign, without Saint Patrick's Saltire, defaced with a blue lighthouse in the fly, is the Commissioners' flag of the Northern Lighthouse Board. This flag is unique as it uses a pre-1801 Union Flag in the canton.

In the Royal Navy, the fleet flagship is, in practice, the warship designated as the fleet's most prestigious vessel, currently HMS Prince of Wales. In the modern era, the fleet flagship has usually been an aircraft carrier, but that changed in 2010 with the assignment of HMS Albion.

Feb 5, 2022 · There used to be a Naval Air Station near Nottingham, almost as far from the sea as you can get in Britain, but it was called H.M.S. Gamecock and flew the White Ensign. I can't remember if a commissioning pennant is flown at the masthead of shore establishments.

On 9 November 1914, HMAS Sydney wore a large Australian National Flag as a battle ensign from the mainmast during her celebrated victory over German warship SMS Emden at the Battle of Cocos. The battle was the first naval clash and first victory for the Royal Australian Navy. [3][4]
