Attempt at redesign of the HL2 SMG - concept : r/HalfLife - Reddit
Nov 9, 2022 · Here's my attempt at redesigning the HL2 SMG. I wanted to use an actual MP7 as a base. I made the barrel part longer to better fit the grenade launcher. The grenade launcher is an attachment rather than some integral part of the gun. I also made it a different color to fit the "Combine" theme.
was the smg in half life 2 good or did it suck? : r/HalfLife - Reddit
Oct 6, 2022 · It's good as an early-mid game weapon, but against Combine Soldiers it's merely acceptable. By Anticitizen One the SMG tends to taper off in effectiveness as Combine Soldiers become more prevalent, and by "Follow Freeman" every Combine Soldier has an AR2, so the SMG loses it's ammo advantage.
SMG in Half-Life 2 isn't bad : r/HalfLife - Reddit
Oct 23, 2021 · However, HL2 SMG has a bunch of advantages over it's HL1 counterpart. Sure, it may have little bit of smaller mag and tiny bit less damage, but it has way higher rate of fire (from my experience) technically having higher DPS than it's MP5 cousin and most weapons in Half-Life 2.
My interpretation of the Half-Life 2 SMG : r/HalfLife - Reddit
As some may know, the SMG is not really the MP7, but rather its prototype called PDW. What I did was add the AG36 grenade launcher, which was also created by Heckler & Koch, I also shorted it a little so it wouldn't look so disproportionate. My editing …
My take on the HL2 SMG : r/HalfLife - Reddit
Dec 16, 2019 · To be honest, MMods smg looks pretty logical and also operates reasonably considering the small shells the UBGL fires and the pump action of the grenade launcher. However valves idea to use an mp7 as a base model is pretty strange to say the least.
Where does the SMG fire its grenades from in Half-Life 2?
I think the grenade launching feature was added after they cut the OICW from the game. It made sense on the OICW because it had a second barrel for a magazine-fed grenade launcher, but it was replaced by the pulse rifle and they went back to having the grenade launcher on the SMG like in Half Life 1, only the mp7 is way too small for a grenade launcher so it makes no sense, but gun knowledge ...
Gun accuracy/The way guns are designed in Half Life 2 : r/HalfLife
Jul 7, 2017 · the SMG is supposed to be weak, its the weapon they give you the most ammo for, you are supposed to waste a shit ton of easily replaceable bullets to kill a target, the pistol is supposed to do the same but slower, but in HL2 the rebalanced it by making it a different weapon (unlike in HL1 where it was basically a slower, more accurate SMG ...
I was bored, so I redesigned the HL2 SMG... In MS Paint.
Iirc they the ammo for SMG grenades is a lot more limited in the beginning and becomes more common as you go. So that kinda mimics the feeling of gradually getting more tools to play with. But it would be cool if each secondary fire was an upgrade you found and the effectiveness of your weapons increased over the course of the game.
Playing HL2 with the weapons from HL1? : r/HalfLife - Reddit
Those values also need to be compared to the SMGs of the respective games - in HL2 the SMG puts out 4 damage per bullet, while the HL1 SMG does 5 damage per bullet. The difference between pistol and SMG damage is tiny in HL2, but quite big in HL1 - combined with the shared 9mm ammo in HL1, it gives an interesting dynamic, where you have to ...
