The VP70 is a 9×19mm, 18-round, double action only, semi-automatic /three-round burst capable polymer frame pistol manufactured by German arms firm Heckler & Koch GmbH. VP stands for Volkspistole[2][3][4] (literally "People's Pistol"), and the designation 70 was for the first year of production, 1970.

Nov 30, 2018 · It is the first production service pistol to use a polymer frame, and it came with double-stack, double-feed 18-round magazines; the highest standard capacity of the day. It is striker fired, and the striker is at rest completely forward, unlike modern striker-fired pistol which use the cycling of the slide to partially cock the striker.

The HK VP70M was West Germany’s attempt at a Liberator pistol and the shoulder holster even worked as a duty holster.

By omitting the mechanisms required for fully automatic fire, HK ensured that the VP70Z complied with civilian firearm laws while retaining the core features that made the VP70 unique. Despite these differences, the VP70M and VP70Z shared many characteristics.

May 11, 2017 · I posted this question in the Heads Up area when the VP70M was for sale at Auction. The model shown in the auction is a different "ergonomic" type grip than the later and more common version. Anyone know anything about the VP70M Machine pistol?

Oct 13, 2020 · Fifth version of the VP70, now identified as the VP70M for Militär. One of the most interesting features of the VP70 series is a totally innovative front sight. I have not seen a sight like this on any other pistol.
