Aug 26, 2019 · HDAC9 expression was assessed by the IHC score. The proportion score was based on the ratio of positively stained cells to gastric gland cells (0, < 5%; 1, 5–25%; 2, 26%–50%; 3, 51%–75%; 4, > 75%).

HDAC9 is associated with clinicopathological features of patients with PDAC. The expression level of HDAC9 in PDAC was analyzed by IHC, and the results indicated that high HDAC9 expression was observed in 64.0% of PDAC samples (62/97).

HDAC9 overexpression promoted HCC growth and PD-L1 expression. The results of the current study highlighted the strong association between HDACs with immunotherapy, thus providing a rational basis for combining HDAC9 specific inhibitors and PD-1 blockade in a future clinical approach for HCC.

HDAC9 suppression showed significant down-regulation of aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A3 (ALDH1A3), a stemness-related gene reported in several malignancies including HCC. We also confirmed that ALDH activity is required for the anchorage-independent cell growth of undifferentiated HCC cells.
