Epigenetic regulation of miR-124 by Hepatitis C Virus core protein ...
Sep 21, 2012 · MiR-124 is down-regulated in HCV-ICC. The induction of DNMT1 by HCVc mediated the suppression of miR-124. Low miR-124 expression level promotes cell migration and invasion by targeting SMYD3. Our study casts a new light on the functions of miR-124 as both genetic and epigenetic regulators.

HCVC 124 encompasses the highly basic amino terminus of the core protein that is responsible for RNA binding and excludes the highly hydrophobic sequences in the carboxy terminus of the protein. This construct was designed to minimize potential solubility problems associated with expressing proteins containing highly hydrophobic regions.
Biophysical characterization of hepatitis C virus core protein ...
Jan 16, 2004 · To further probe for conformational constraints among the aromatic residues, HCVC 179 and HCVC 124 were analyzed by near-UV CD spectroscopy under physiological conditions. Under reducing conditions, HCVC 124 and HCVC 179 showed nearly identical CD signals in the near-UV region (Fig. 7A).
Epigenetic regulation of miR-124 by hepatitis C virus core protein ...
Sep 21, 2012 · In this study, we found that miR-124 was down-regulated in HCV-ICC and the induction of DNMT1 by HCVc mediated the suppression of miR-124. Over-expression of miR-124 suppressed cell migration and invasion in vitro, and reduced the protein levels of SMYD3 and downstream target genes (c-Myc and MMP9).
Mononuclear phagocyte system in hepatitis C virus infection
Nov 11, 2018 · In this review, we outline the impact of HCV infection on the MPS and cytokine production. We discuss how HCV is detected by the MPS and describe the function and impairment of MPS components in HCV infection. Keywords: Mononuclear phagocyte system, Hepatitis C virus, Monocyte, Dendritic cell, Macrophage.

Hepatitis C virus core protein triggers expansion and ... - PubMed
These data indicate that HCVc, like other TLR2 ligands, triggers CD4(+)CD25(+) Treg activation and expansion to inhibit host immune responses, which may play a critical role in viral persistence in HCV-infected patients.
HCV core protein and virus assembly: what we know without …
Recently, the new mechanisms involving viral proteins and host factors in HCV particle formation and egress have been described.

Dec 24, 2003 · HCVC 179 (aa 1–179) represents the mature core protein product of post-translational cleavage [4, 10-13], and HCVC 124 (aa 1–124) is a C-terminally truncated core protein that includes regions previously implicated in RNA binding and self-association of the core protein [12, 14, 15].
