Sep 15, 2011 · HCC students and faculty submitted potential mascot monikers throughout the summer — the person who submitted the winning name was promised a free iPad — and the rest of the student body voted for their favorite during the first weeks of classes. Thus, Swoop the Eagle came to be.

Only Pasco–Hernando State College, out of the 28-school Florida community college system, was founded later. In January 2008 the school opened its first residence hall, Hawk's Landing, named after the school mascot. This marks HCC as one of the few community colleges with its own residence hall. [2]

Houston Community College, also known as the Houston Community College System (HCCS), is a community college that operates community colleges in Houston, Missouri City, Greater Katy, and Stafford in Texas. It is notable for actively recruiting internationally and for the large number of international students enrolled, over 5,700 in 2015.

The Student Activities Office is looking for students to wear the HCC Hawk Mascot and be a mascot handler at college events and athletic games. Students will be selected each semester and will receive a $500 stipend at the end of the semester if they meet established goals.

The standard HCC logo is representative of the district brand and the other logos are representative of all HCC Foundation. Logos - The logo acts both as an identifier for our institution and a symbol of quality and excellence.

Duncan the Dragon is the official mascot of Howard Community College. Duncan is available to use on materials distributed on campus, when appropriate. Duncan will not be altered in anyway, nor will he be used as part of a logo or other mark for any group, club, program, or any other purpose without prior consultation with PRM.

Our mascot, the hawk, has been a fitting symbol for HCC during the past year. Hawks are good communicators, sending signals to their fellow birds about potential danger, and are fiercely loyal, protecting each other from predators. They are much like our COVID Campus
