They stayed at the eyrie. It was located in the eastern part of Hithaeglir in Rhovanion. These creatures helped Istari The Born and Imladris 's Eldars to watch the movement of the Orcs.

Nov 12, 2002 · Could Gwaihir carry Frodo straight to Orodruin? I'm thinking about this question since I read LOTR the first time. If Frodo + Ring departed immediately from Rivendell on Gwaihir's back when the Nazgul drowned in River Bruinen (not actually drowned, I know), could Sauron have done anything against it?

May 4, 2022 · Thorondor expected to find Gwaihir among one of the patrol units controlling the territory. However, the plain was empty. The eagle was about to turn towards the fortress itself, where Gwaihir was definitely supposed to be, and had almost caught the air flow when he noticed a lone elf wandering...

Aug 20, 2001 · Maybe a 100 feet (30.48 m) for Thorondor, 80-90 feet (24.384 m - 27.432 m) for Gwaihir, and maybe 50-70 feet (15.24 m -21.336 m) for "regular" giant eagles. And those are all tops in my estimation (the mean value should be smaller), but even so they seem enormous enough to me to be rightly called giant eagles.
