WAG running extra (#94): Bloody nose, gray sky - Trainorders.com
Other than the natural contrast between red & gray, I’m not a big fan of SP’s “bloody nose” paint scheme. But place it underneath a roiling gray Kansas sky and I have to say it looks pretty good! BTW: Leave it up to SP to put a switcher second out in a 5-unit road consist. Someti

There are numerous excellent color photos; however, no discussion of the actual shades of blue, white, and grey/gray applied to the tops of locomotives. It appears to me that SP Dark Lark Gray is probably the closest match you will find. FWIW, that paint scheme only lasted two years and eleven months, though some samples lasted a while longer.

The Best and Worst Paint Schemes - Trainorders.com
GN sky blue scheme was absolutely awful no matter what they put it on. GN F's orange and green was a classic scheme. Best GP scheme I think is T&P's swamp holly orange and back a shown on GP-7 #1114 attached. It looked great on NW-2's and SW's as well. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 08/30/09 17:19 by tomstp.

Model Railroading > L & N caboose - Trainorders.com
Good evening, Does anybody out there know of a good caboose (kit or assembled) for the L & N railroad? It needs to run behind a gray and yellow RS-3. This is for one of my modular layout engines so it doesn't need to be super detailed/accurate. It just has to look "right" and

I photographed it on 9/29/07 as the rear end DPU alone on an eastbound coal train at Granby, CO. I halfway thought that it might be the former "gray ghost" but couldn't remember for sure. The pic is terrible because it was very cloudy and had just started raining but it clearly shows the 6344. Rio Grande Fan Denver, CO

The grays in the exhaust, transmission towers, and dead weeds on the fill are all the same blue-gray, and so really make the saturated green grass 'pop'. [ Reply To This Message ] [ Quote ] Date: 11/09/10 08:19
Model Railroading > Hiding in Plain Sight? - Trainorders.com
For areas deep in the mountains I hand-painted a camo pattern of light to dark gray. Around the front of the layout the fascia is now a dirty gray blend I had mixed up at Home Depot. Below most of these are cloth skirts, a slightly green shade of gray with the plain fascias and skirts with a (somewhat different) camo pattern under some of the ...
