Jan 8, 2023 · That's a different Gothmog, Tolkien reuses names every now and then and there's a Gothmog who shows up as the lieutenant of the Witch-King's army at Minas Tirith. He's not actually given a description beyond that in the book, so the film interpreted him as an orc.

Jul 17, 2022 · Gothmog oversaw and commanded morgoths armies etc. Sauron was morgoths liutenant. Meaning he had a more diverse role. He would for example assume command over morgoths operations etc when he had other things to do. I dont think morgoth had a defined heirarchy among his maiar. But he seemed to put alot of trust in sauron.

Apr 6, 2016 · Gothmog is a lieutenant for Mordor's forces and not the same as the Balrog killed by Ecthelion. Tolkien only briefly mentions him once or twice in the book, so it's unclear whether he is an orc, Nazgul, or something else.

Sep 14, 2022 · I am not saying that Gothmog is bad, but in a Faction like Mordor, I think Gothmog could be easily left at home, Unless you playing this LL, which sacrifices a lot of things. I have heard of people who really like this army, and others who think it’s horrendous. Not sure what to think myself, besides that the new Gothmog model Looks AWESOME.

So Gothmog might be the spirit of the original Balrog possessing a troll. In the rpg, the character has the Balrog's helmet, as kind of a ritualistic focus for the possession. I admit the idea of the Balrog persisting beyond destruction is a bit of a reach.

Oct 10, 2022 · I'm trying to build a 700 point army of Gothmog LL. At 700 I can fit almost everything I want, 2 banners, drum, Guritz (for march), a shaman and even 7 orcs with bows. The real hard choice comes between Zagdush and Goroth. What would you go with. Personally I like Goroth more, but I think Zagdush, having 3 attacks, is just going to out preform ...

Mar 19, 2016 · Gothmog, the Lord of the Balrogs, decides that Morgoth requires a better lieutenant than Sauron has so far proven to be. So he challenges Sauron to a fight to the death. They fight upon an open plain. Gothmog has the standard sword and flaming whip of the Balrogs, Sauron, his armour and mace. Round 1: Sauron fighting before he forged the one ring.
