Lakhey is a demon in Newari folklore, believed to be a carnivorous demon who occupies the woods. It is said that Lakhey had a covenant with the cities’ early settlers who ensured its domain and even allowed it access to the cities in return for the security of the inhabitants.

Gorkha District (Nepali: गोरखा pronounced [ɡoɾkʰaː] ⓘ), a part of Gandaki Province, is one of 77 districts of Nepal, and the fourth largest district of the country in terms of area. It is historically linked with the creation of modern Nepal and the name of the legendary Gorkha soldiers.

The Gurkhas or Gorkhas (/ ˈɡɜːrkə, ˈɡʊər -/), with the endonym Gorkhali (Nepali: गोर्खाली [ɡoɾkʰaːliː]), are soldiers native to the Indian subcontinent, chiefly residing within Nepal and some parts of North India. [1][2] The Gurkha units consist of Nepali and (in India) Indian Gorkha, Nepali-speaking Indian people.
