Apr 28, 2020 · The Gonome is one of the few enemies introduced in Opposing Force that I wouldn't mind returning and entering into the official canon. Their origins would just need to be handwaved a bit to make them fit (created by another Headcrab variant, like possibly a juvenile Gonarch birthed by an adult to found a new nest).

In ravenholm, there wasn’t enough danger for a gonome to be needed. I believe that Gonomes still exist across the wasteland, just in a limited capacity, most likely protecting gonarchs that also exist in the wastes.

May 6, 2017 · It was established in Opposing Force that after a while the zombies mutated further into a gonome; why didn't this happen in Ravenholm?

I'll bet how it works is a gonome goes and finds a corner somewhere to become a stationary headcrab hive with the original headcrab as the 'queen', which slowly amasses strength and mass through a control pheromone to force other headcrabs to become 'worker bees', until it simply gets up on massive legs and becomes a gonarch.

Do we actually know for sure what creates a Gonome? Maybe the conditions simply don't exist for wild headcrabs (Accounting for the Combine modification theory) to evolve into Gonomes. Maybe, like you said, there isn't enough food. Maybe it's a specific evolutionary mechanism for when headcrabs are in lots of danger to better protect themselves.

Jan 4, 2015 · I think in hl2 ep 1 or ep2 where you fight many zombies with alyx there was a gonome looking zombie corpse on the table but I don't remmember clearly.
