Located on the Saints Way, Golant is a popular stop-off for walkers. There is no public transport, school or shop in the village but there is a very active and friendly community who keep the Fishermans busy all year round supporting its quiz nights, card evenings and other events.

Thanks to a community fundraising effort last year, some generous donations and some grants, Golant is to have a virtually brand new play area this spring appropriately featuring a ship as the centre piece.

The Golant Pill is published bi-monthly and is full of local information about the comings and goings in the village together with a useful calendar of events on the back page. It is free to all villagers and households thanks to the support of St Sampson Parish Council, village organisations and local businesses who advertise in it.

Seen as a forerunner of other more recent schemes in the area, the Golant Boat Owners Association (now more commonly known as Golant Boatwatch) has continued to provide an ongoing ‘watch-based’ service in the village and on the river.
