Jun 13, 2022 · Gohan’s asspull bothers me a lot despite me liking him as a character but I think SSJ2 is one of the occasions it was most deserved. He spent months and months training non stop with Goku and achieved SSJ1 bordering on achieving SSJ2 and just needed an extra emotional push like Goku did when he first became a Super Saiyan.

Sep 5, 2016 · Completely agree. People think SSJ2 Gohan looks cool and hits hard so they don't look any deeper. I was rewatching this part of the series recently and I had the same reaction. It's a very sad ending. Because it also contains Goku's lowest moment - when he puts Gohan in front of Piccolo and doesn't help him.

I think Gohan was ssj2 against Dabura because it doesn't make any sense for Gohan to struggle pointlessly while holding back the vast majority of his power against an opponent. An enemy he knows needs to be defeated quickly so they can end the threat posed by Babidi and MB.
