But kayfabe wise, it's because Rick is so smart, that whenever he sees something fucked up that God, in his opinion, fucked up, he has to call it for what it is.

Oct 26, 2015 · Rick is a metaphor for god. in the pilot he was going to destroy the world and start over with morty being adam and jessica being eve. not only that but he seems to be compared to god a lot. He is the rival of the devil in 'Something Ricked This Way Comes'.

Rick knows that the Cristian version of God and the Devil exist - but he doesn't put stock in them normally. He's better than they are. He literally whooped a zeus, outsmarted the devil to the point of self-harm, and went on an adventure to slay the christian god.
