Nov 19, 2015 · A mature goat can pull 1.5 times his own weight. They can't pull quite as much weight in a 2-wheeled cart as in a 4-wheeled wagon because part of the load from the 2-wheeled cart is transferred to the goat's back through the shafts. My full-grown Alpine/Nubian wether is 200 lbs. and can pull an adult in a 2-wheeled cart without any effort at all.

Jun 8, 2014 · I am a youth so I weigh 90-100 pounds. However, the goats that I will have pulling (full-grown) have a combined weight of roughly 150 pounds. They will be pulling as a team of two and I am set on breeding my own cart goats and proving Pygmy goats can pull a cart just fine.

Jan 17, 2018 · One of the nicest pulling goats I've seen was an Alpine/Nigerian Dwarf wether. He was short but was a major powerhouse and had excellent conformation for a draft goat. As has been stated, nine months is an excellent time to start training your goat. You won't be able to hitch him to a cart until he's at least two years old and well grown out.
How much weight should they pull? | The Goat Spot Forum
Apr 1, 2020 · A good rule of thumb is that a goat can safely pull about 1.5x his own body weight. My big wethers weigh about 200 lbs. each, so they can pull about 300 lbs. apiece or 600 lbs. together. Nigerian Dwarfs, being little powerhouses with short legs, can probably pull a little more weight but likely not for as long a distance.

As I did the cart, the wheel axis is offset back by 5 cm relative to the center of the cart. The maximum weight that I carried in the cart is 250 kg. this corresponds to 4 slender people weighing 60 kg. each.
The Best Harness Goat Breeds
Aug 26, 2009 · I think Saanen would be the best goat for a harness goat. When the males mature they are huge. I know a breeder friend who has a wether for a pet and he's nearly as tall as a full size Saanen buck(and they are HUGE!) Saanens also have very calm and gentle personalities.
working goat pulling plough? | The Goat Spot Forum
Apr 5, 2013 · I am just toying with the idea of a pack/cart goat. Then I wondered if anyone has ever used a cart goat to pull a plough, or something similar, as an alternative to a rotary hoe? I like to keep a wether as a friend to my buck, and this would make the wether a more useful goat, and justify the feed bill for an extra goat for my husband.
