Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin (Silver Fang: Gin the Shooting Star) is a manga/anime series by Yoshihiro Takahashi. The series came out in the 1980s and has become widely popular in the Nordics, especially in Finland, despite the series' Asian origins.

Silver Fang: The Shooting Star Gin (Japanese: 銀牙 -流れ星 銀-, Hepburn: Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Takahashi. It was published in Shueisha's shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1983 to 1987, and collected in 18 bound volumes.

Gaia is the second strongest canine of Ginga Nagareboshi Gin and according to Meteor Gin he is possibly the only living thing who could face Akakabuto all on his own. Despite Gaia being male, his name is a female name as it is the name of a goddess in Greek mythology.

John – also known as The Eastern Tiger – is a main character of Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin and of Ginga Densetsu Weed in the Hōgen Arc. He also got a role as a main character in the short story Chōmon No Tabi and Namonaki Inu No Uta.

Fuji is a red bi-coloured Akita Inu with typical urajiro markings. She wears a rather thick collar with a buckle and small round buttons on it. In the anime, she’s brown and white, with white markings on her face, chest belly and tail, completed with white socks instead of her original markings.
