dnd 5e 2014 - What is the mechanical difference between the …
5e doesn't contain any distinction between the two. (Note: the pike, which you didn't ask about, is also identical to the glaive and halberd in its combat stats. The pike, however, does not benefit from the first bullet-point of Polearm Master, and so is strictly inferior--mechanically speaking--to either of the glaive or halberd.)
What is best build for Glaive user? : r/dndnext - Reddit
Aug 29, 2021 · Specifically for glaive/halberd, a barbarian at tiers 1 and 2 while a paladin at tier 3 are ideal. The barbarians get extra damage on all hits if they are raging and can use reach reckless attack then move back utilising their great movement speed. Paladins can get more smites per turn and at level 11 they get an extra d8 on all hits.
Halberd versus Glaive : r/dndnext - Reddit
Aug 20, 2014 · The glaive usually has a sword-type face for slashing and a spear-tip for piercing at best. So the question is: was this done intentionally or just for balancing reasons? My suggestion: make halberd s/p/b damage and make glaive s/p or bring back the pike or ransuer for piercing, the bardiche, guisarme, glaive for slashing, and let the halberd ...
Double sided glaive - Giant in the Playground Forums
Apr 27, 2018 · My 1rst level character is really rich, so he wants to pay an extra 5 gp to the normally 25 gp glaive, to make it double sided. While completely useless in the beginning, the glaive, it could become very powerful when purchasing the pole arm master feat, allowing me to strike for 2d10 damage!
Optimal Polearm Master build D&D 5e. : r/3d6 - Reddit
Apr 4, 2021 · I believe going glaive/halberd is probably the best way to go for battlefield control or pure damage as It opens up great weapon master and provides reach. If you grab sentinel, you can effectively keep approaching enemy from reaching you, opening up the possibility of infinitely kiting a foe around even if they outpace you.
dnd 5e 2014 - Is there a way to use a shield with a glaive? - Role ...
Oct 3, 2022 · No, but you can use the shield spell. As Thomas' answer elaborates, there is no way to attack with a glaive while you have donned a physical shield, as the shield does not leave both of your hands free. 1 You also cannot get rid of and re-equip a shield fast enough, as both donning or doffing one to benefit from its AC bonus take an action (p. 146 PHB).
hexblade glaive build : r/3d6 - Reddit
Jul 2, 2021 · D&D 5e Just noticed that a glaive is both a polearm and a heavy weapon, so in theory should be usable with both the Great Weapon Master feat and the Pole Arm Master feat. This seems like it would be brutal on a hexblade particularly, because of how many bonuses they stack on their attacks.
[5E][Feat]Wielding two-handed weapons with one hand : r/DnD
Jan 10, 2016 · No. It's way too powerful. Though the damage increase from Longsword to Glaive isn't that high, realize that the Glaive only has lower damage because it has reach, which is a very powerful ability. The greatsword is a better example to compare the true effectiveness of the feat.
Glaive vs greatsword : r/DnD - Reddit
Nov 26, 2019 · Glaive gives reach, which is great, but greatsword gives 2d6, while the glaive only gives 1d10. Is the trade-off worth it? Yah, if you can make it worth it. Reach means you don't have to get up in their face, and can kite people, it means you can hit fliers if they are stupid enough to hover near you, and a bunch of other great stuff.

Aug 27, 2022 · The 5e weapons list is the worst of all worlds. They could have given us what makes each listed weapon special and unique, or gone the abstract way and just given basic 1hander/2hander/finesse as weapon types, just skin them to be what you need them to be...
