Ghawazi (also ghawazee) (Arabic: الغوازي) are female dancers who danced in return for money in public settings, and the streets. There were male dancers as well, including men who performed movements associated with women and who were pejoratively called khawal.

The Egyptian Ghawazee are the decendents of nomads who migrated from India through the countries of the Far and Middle East and then down into Egypt, probably in the 16th century.
