Jan 26, 2025 · The GGJ is the world's largest game creation event taking place around the globe boasting tens of thousands of participants (jammers) at hundreds of physical and virtual sites in over one hundred countries around the world.

The Global Game Jam (GGJ) is an annual distributed game jam. Inspired by the Nordic Game Jam, and created by Susan Gold, Ian Schreiber, Gorm Lai and Foaad Khosmood, originally developed under the International Game Developers Association Education SIG to bring together the elements of creativity, collaboration and experimentation.

GGJ Next® is an annual game jam event operated by the Global Game Jam to serve middle and high school youth who are interested in learning the creation of video games. Most recently, the GGJ Next jam has run concurrently with the Global Game Jam in January.
