Nov 29, 2017 · My main question for those that have owned both gen 1 and gen 2 Volts - how much faster is the gen 2 in daily usage? Does it maintain that speed differential after say 40+ mph? Or does it start to essentially equal the gen 1 in that realm?

Unlike the Gen 2 Volts and the other PHEVs, the Gen 1 Volt can not use the gas engine to accelerate to speed when the traffic light turns green or to accelerate to speed to merge onto the highway.

Jan 6, 2025 · The often recommended “use mountain mode “ originated with the early Gen 1 Volts, which don’t have a “hold” mode. In the early Gen1s selecting mountain mode will fire up the ICE when the SOC hits about 35%-40%.

Jun 6, 2017 · I'm in a Gen 1 volt with the Bose sound. I'm not sure if that was a package or a standard offering, but it's the best factory sound system I've ever listened too.
