Geeta Dutt (born Geeta Ghosh Roy Chowdhuri; 23 November 1930 – 20 July 1972) [3] was an Indian classical and playback singer. She found particular prominence as a playback singer in Hindi cinema and Bengali cinema and is considered as one of the best playback singers of all time in Hindi films. [4]

Geetaji sang in five of his films during that year. These were “Baraat” (two duets), “Maa Baap” (a duet), “Naache Nagin Baaje Been” (a duet), “Police Detective” (a duet), and “Zimbo Shehar Mein” (a solo and a duet). For Avinash Vyas, in “Bhakta Raj” Geetaji sang two solos and a duet.

Geeta Dutt lent her voice to some of the choicest Hindi film melodies and made them immortal. Whether it was SD Burman or O P Nayyar, Dutt caste her magic spell over one and all. A soft dulcet...

Jul 20, 2002 · Apart from Hindi songs, Geeta was a leading playback singer for Gujarati films singing for scores of films under the baton of music maestro Avinash Vyas. And in the period from the mid-1950s to the early 60s, Geeta Dutt returned to her roots so to say and sang some of the most sublime and well-known songs in Bengali Cinema during its golden period.

Some of Geeta's best work for e.g. 'Waqt ne kiya kya haseen sitam' from Kaagaz ke Phool(1959), 'Chale aao, chale aao' from Sahib Bibi aur Ghulam (1962) and the songs of Anubhav (1971) were to come later and naturally they do not find a place in that list.
