Jan 24, 2012 · If a gas valve with a shutoff switch is unused and shut off in the off position, should it still be capped? (e.g. valve for dryer, wall furnace, cooking range, etc.) And if cap, with what, a generic plumbing pipe/valve cap?

Jan 30, 2009 · If replacing the thermopile doesn't work, then you need a new gas valve. If the appliance is a boiler or furnace, it'll use 24 VAC to operate the "main" valve. Check to see if you're getting 24 VAC at the terminals on the gas valve. If so, and the boiler or furnace isn't firing up, then you need a new gas valve.

The measured output of my thermopile is currently around 350mv; sadly, I failed to get a calibration reading when it was installed (new) a few years ago. Dec 3, 2020 · On top of all of that, there's no shutoff valve upstream of the leaky valve other than the main gas shutoff. This first picture shows the ceiling layout below the upstairs fireplace: The next picture shows the hole that I cut, and the valve in the background, about 3 feet up from the spot in the ceiling where I made the cut.

Nov 10, 2018 · The valve has 3/4 pipe in and out. A small copper line in on the tpp near the pilot valve. Another small line next to the out pipe. And has only two wires into the valve. A brown and a yellow wire. I have the tools and skill to replace the valve, but just cannot find the right one. Any guidance appreciated. Two pictures provided

Mar 13, 2012 · Flame sense without gas valve says that a flame sensor circuit signal was being received too long after the 24V to the gas valve power was shut off. A 24V check of the gas valve when the thermostat shuts it off will prove is the gas shut off is instant or delayed. Either a faulty gas valve or a mother board could cause both of these fault codes.

Nov 16, 2016 · When the gas valve does open and the flame is proved, everything is great. I measure about 20V across the valve in this instance. When the HSI heats up and gas valve fails to open, I measure about 3V across the valve. If I pull off the molex connector and measure the voltage, I always see around 24V

Jan 6, 2013 · I have a natural gas key valve that runs to my fireplace. The valve is built into the brick. The valve stem that the key goes into is partially stripped. Can a specialist repair the stem with some kind of slim tool to get the packing nut off and put in new stem?
