Acetylene discharged into air (or an oxygen/acetylene torch) at pressures greater than 15 PSIG may cause the gas molecules to disassociate, resulting in free hydrogen gas, which is highly explosive. That’s why the “red line” on acetylene gauges is 15 PSI! When transporting acetylene tanks, they should remain upright.

Craftsman Oxy-mapp Gas Torch Outfit 11-07-2004, 03:25 PM i recently bought a craftsman oxy-mapp gas torch and im wondering if it is good enough to do minor welding and brazing the book lists the top temp at 5300 degrees and if i remember right u only need 2800 to braze and 400o to weld. any insight will be highly appreciated

yep, like mac said, its all fine with C25 just strait Co2 and acetilean, need to be upright. the Co2 can be caried sideways then stood up and used almost right away, the acet. is the one with the fiber fill and needs to be alowed to set upright for atleast 3 Hrs befor use. the stand and settle time is a lil hazzy as the the exact time some say longer some say less depending on its sideways ...

Most work is cutting and combo torches aren't nearly as nice as straight torches. You can grab a combo handle and gas welding tips later if you need them. My favorite personal torch is the Purox E series, which haven't changed enough to matter since at least the 1940s (the parts swap with the new torches, I have two E's and a C-77).

Dec 19, 2004 · Thay can be used for propane, propaline and natural gas. What i need to know is some torches and cutting atachemts will only run Acetylene and not the others. It goes the other way around some will run propane, propaline and NG but not Acetylene. I kinda need to know more about the torch and cutting atachment. Thanks for the info so far!
