Jan 30, 2020 · Gardz is a great product to use for priming drywall. I'm not sure why it doesn't get more use this way. It could just be tradition - it's not a standard white primer. However if people really want what they say they want - i.e. sealing of porous surfaces - Gardz is the way to go.

All supposedly dry clear like Gardz. The only difference in what they claim on the container is that Rx-35 doesn't mention wallpaper paste residue, while the other 2 do.

Aug 20, 2011 · I realize that - Gardz is a clear watery finish for drywall that soaks in and makes a shiny hard finish, closer to shellac in that sense; 123 is a white primer that can be used on many more surfaces including metal.

May 17, 2020 · You dont HAVE to gardz the skim coat, but I like to, because it penetrates the surface and makes it bullet proof. 123 will work as well, as long as you get the dust off the wall. With my shopvac sander, I dont worry about it, though, but wall dust is much less of a concern with Gardz, as it will straight up penetrate a little into the wall.

Oct 14, 2013 · Gardz is your best bet - seals the wallpaper paste and also the drywall compound. You won't need another primer after that before painting your walls. As for the sandpapery feel, I'm assuming the humidity is activating the paste again in some way.
