Gani Mirzo (born 1968) is a contemporary Kurdish musician. [1] He was born in Qamishlo in northeastern Syria and studied music at the Aleppo Conservatory and taught lute and composition in Syria.

Since 2014 Gani Mirzo has worked in refugee camps in Kurdistan (Syria and Iraq). In 2018 he founded a music centre in Shingal, in Iraqi Kurdistan, which teaches children and adults who are victims of war and Islamic fundamentalism.

Kurdish by birth and Barcelonan by adoption, Gani Mirzo was attracted to music from a young age. Even though he belonged to the Kurdish community, whose music and culture was prohibited in Rojava and Syria, he managed to study music: first at the Aleppo conservatory and later in Barcelona.
