E. Gaff[1] was a police officer with the LAPD Blade Runner Unit. In November 2019, he investigated a break-in at the Tyrell Corporation headquarters and accompanied Rick Deckard during part of his assignment to retire a group of renegade replicants. He had an affinity for creating origami figures.

Gaff is a Los Angeles police officer who escorts Deckard throughout his mission. He primarily uses "Cityspeak", a creole of Spanish, French, German, Hungarian, Chinese, Russian and Japanese, which Deckard pretends not to understand. [1]

Gaff is most notable for two things: he spares Rachael's life at the end of the movie, allowing her to run away with Deckard, and he leaves a silver origami unicorn behind in Deckard's apartment as a clue that he knows Deckard's dreams, which suggests that Deckard may therefore be a replicant himself.
