The GWR 1400 Class is a class of steam locomotive designed by the Great Western Railway for branch line passenger work. It was originally classified as the 4800 Class when introduced in 1932, and renumbered in 1946.

A map of buildings GWR locomotives were named after. I created this series of drawings to illustrate development and variations caused by boiler changes and other developments in various classes and to illustrate some pieces I have written as features for the GWR Modelling Website.

This is a model on 5" gauge of a Great Western Railway, 14xx 0-4-2 class steam locomotive. The model was started in 1996 and finished in 2007.

You can download the building instructions for each loco or carriage model from a link on the information page for each model – if there is no link it means that the instructions are not yet complete. Sometimes it takes a while to write all the words. It is getting quicker as new locos tend to share parts and instructions with older models.
