The factory was basking in the glory that it had created with the GPz900R, a machine that set new rules for superbikes. Like the 900, the 600 was liquid-cooled, the first of its type. It had Grand-Prix bike styling. Technology sprouted all over it.

Back on the relatively wonderful roads of countryside Britain, the GPZ really came into its own. The 37mm forks and firm chassis give a supremely taut ride, while the triple discs work faultlessly with plenty of information fed back to the pilot.

The Kawasaki GPZ 600 R was based on an in-line 4-cylinder liquid-cooled engine with a volume of 592 cc, producing 75 hp. power and almost 52 Nm of torque, which at one time was hardly a record.
