With regards to the multi satellite options, I’m assuming you can only have GLONASS OR Galileo and not all three. As such, couple of questions: 1. The 1030 gives 3 GPS options: GPS, GPS+GLONASS and GPS+Galileo. I know that the European Galileo system is now fully operational. I had used GPS+GLONASS in the past. Which is the best system for accuracy and what is the hit on battery life if any for the bump in accuracy?

The GPS + GLONASS or GPS + GALILEO options offer increased performance in challenging environments and faster position acquisition than using GPS only. In most cases, there will be very little difference to accuracy. In conditions where there is a limited view of the horizon (eg. a narrow valley), there may be times when your can see sufficient GLONASS satellites to get a positional fix while you can't with GPS (or vice versa), in which case accuracy is improved through having access to an alternative constellation of satellites.

Regarding galileo. Afaik it is still not fully operational. I have seen tracks from people using it that have straight lines because of loss of signal. Not sure if it is really due to galileo. However I am still using gps+glonass and have not yet seen this issue.

Hi, I've always had my Garmin set to "GPS only" as I read here that using "GPS + GLONASS" used battery life more intensively. And I have to say, it always works fine. Perhaps some slight inaccuracy if I'm cycling under tree canopies, or close to tall buildings, but never enough to make navigation difficult, or to make any recorded routes ...
