A few weeks or so ago it was widely reported that CSX 9969, the former MARC GP40H used for track geometry trains, had been retired. However, the locomotive has mimicked Lazarus and risen from the grave.

Track inspection/geometry train going west out of Connellsville. The GP40WH-2 is the only locomotive of this type that CSX owns. It is generally only used for this train. The heritage of it is former MARC 69, MARC 32, CR 3051, NYC 3051, and PC 3051 built in July 1967 as a GP40.
