My name is Ashton and I am the number 4877 class GG1 electric locomotive of - fallen flag - Pennsylvania Railroad. I was born in Altoona in 1939. and after 44 worked years I was retired in 1983 from NJ Transit Company.

Jan 22, 2025 · GE, July, 1935 as PRR 4809, ex-PC, Officially retired in February of 1980, it still was standing in GG1 scrap line when this slide was taken by Conrail conductor Ken Taylor. Note the marking "Scrap" and a line through its number.

CR GG1 4887 waits for assignment late in the day at Morrisville in March 1977. The two GG-1's use their horsepower to start ENCR on its journey from Enola to Croxton (Secaucus,NJ). ENCR was a short lived symbol used while Oak Island was being rebuilt.

Conrail 4800, known as “Old Rivets” an Ex-PRR GG1 ... - Reddit
Jul 3, 2023 · The locomotive would later be known as “Old Rivets” due to it being the only GG1 with a riveted body, all other GG1’s had welded bodies. Old Rivets actually pulled FDR’s funeral train for part of the journey, and was eventually passed down to Conrail after PRR was no more.
