The German special forces and combat divers will soon receive the new H&K 416 A7 assault rifle, designated as the Rifle G95. This 5.56mm gas-operated rifle is set to become the standard weapon for the Special Forces Command and the Special Forces Command of the Navy, with delivery expected to begin in January 2019.

The G95 is designed for the German KSK and KSM special forces unit. During field testing of the rifle it was known as the HK416A7. It is similar to the HK416A5 variant but with a 45-degree safety selector, that rotates 45 degrees rather than 90 degrees as on the A5 variant safety selector.
