May 19, 2012 · Your well-reasoned post raised good points supporting your $3000 prediction, but you didn't mention the Kenwood TS-590. If one thinks the TS-990 will be positioned in the market against the FTDX-5000, then one would think Yaesu needs a midrange rig to counter the TS-590 with something of similar performance and price.

Oct 4, 2012 · But the 5000 is light years past the 940 and once you learn how it works you can dial in any contact with almost FM quieting quality on SSB. It is worth the big bucks you will have to spend to get one. Then the FTdx3000 is about to go on sale with comparable recieve circuitry as the 5000 at half the price plus a built in Spectrum scope.

Feb 23, 2018 · Very true, I still like my FTDX-5000 as it is a VERY good radio and has all of the manual controls that I love. However it is getting dated, it would be nice to have the same radio with a built in sound card and gave the DMU-2000 modernized to today's standards. Wishful thinking I guess.

Aug 10, 2021 · My experiences with Yaesu tech support have all been fantastic. I own the 991a and an FTDX5000, the 5000 had to go back for a bad tuner (under warranty) and Yaesu fixed it the day after they received it. I had an issue flashing the firmware on the 991a... Yaesu tech support answered my question and walked me through the entire firmware update.

May 27, 2017 · Over the last 7-8 yrs. I have used it on several radios that I have owned the Yaesu FTDX-5000/9000/1000MP, FT-847, an IC-7700/9100 then on a set of Elecraft K3's . The 781 has worked very well with all of them after setup with each and when I receive good audio reports I think that Bob is who I owe for them.

Jan 15, 2023 · After returning to amateur radio after 35 years of inactivity, I have just completed 5000 A1A morse code contacts in 16 months. I do mostly 40 meters, and my antenna is very modest, a long wire in my garden at a few meters, or a PAC-12 quarter wave antenna. But morse code allows me to make nice contacts, and please don't tell me about FT8 ;>)

Nov 3, 2023 · FTDX-10 owner here. Couple of thoughts. People absorb info differently. Having a video will help hams who learn visually. I may prefer written instructions. That's ok, nice that both are available. Yaesu is a train wreck in terms of firmware updates. They do not adequately document all the changes they are making in each release.
