Jun 14, 2007 · A large tank and cave helps with spawning but the females also need places to sit out when holding as the other females will harass them. I usually use large half flowerpot caves at each end of the tank with an empty central area for fish interaction and feeding. I keep Frontosa species tanks since I am specifically breeding.

Dec 1, 2007 · The two latter species of haps didn't harass the frontosa's or anything but they were much more active swimmers and the males (particularly the venustus) displayed alot to attract the females and that activity would damper the frontosa's activity quite a bit. Apr 22, 2013 · Of the three fish on your list, the gnathochromis permaxillaris is most likely to be your best choice for frontosa tankmates. The lepidolamprologus profundicola is moderately aggressive and might work in a very huge tank. The lepidolamprologus nkambae is way too aggressive for the frontosa. Lots of other suitable tankmates to choose from.

Dec 26, 2006 · I am planning to buy 4 Frontosa. I saw in a local fish shop today has a batch of them , 1 to 2 inches, around hundreds of them in a tank. But the thing is I want to buy 2 pairs ( 2 males and 2 females ), but I am new to this kind of fish so I have no idea how to regconize which one is a male or which one is a female, since they're small too.

Nov 17, 2020 · I found the Frontosa I kept to be quite timid, and slow moving, and easily bullied by new world cichlids, or more aggressive, fast moving African types. One of my favorite tanks though, was with fronts mixed with a shoal of Cyprichromis.

Nov 20, 2010 · 99% of the time it would be death to the frontosa. I knew a guy that had a couple 500 gallon aquariums, he stuffed everything in there, he would import quite rare fish. ANyway, he had Moba in there with flowerhorn. course remember this was a huge tank. I also knew a guy who had a pair of red texas in with a frontosa colony in a 100 gallon tank.
