Jun 26, 2021 · I am helping to paint a GP9 diesel and open window coach into a Frisco inspired paint job. It is inspired as it will be painted as accurate what a Frisco GP9 would have looked like. But it will be lettered for the Belton Grandview & Kansas City Railroad using Frisco font.

Sep 12, 2002 · ATSF 99 ended up with the prime mover and 1350 horsepower rating plus certain other components from the wrecked FT on a new GP7 or GP9 type frame with the machinery housed inside a GP9 car body. Technically it should have or could have been classified as a GP9m as it looks like a GP9 externally.

Apr 18, 2011 · I haven't measured it to see if a GP7 or GP9 body will fit on it, but it looks the same to the eye. If not, I'll probably just scrap it for parts. It sounds like only one axle gear is cracked, but you never know until you take them out and have a look.

Feb 3, 2023 · Stanchions: Prototype GP7's had rather unique cast stanchion/handrail assemblies. The later prototype GP9's had "fold over" stanchions which were cheaper to produce. (Athearn blue box models used this type of stanchion for all their models.)
