Anni-Frid Synni Lyngstad[a] KVO1kl (born 15 November 1945), also known simply as Frida, is a Swedish singer who is best known as one of the founding members and lead singers of the pop band ABBA.

Dec 15, 2016 · Frida was one of the so-called “war children.” She was born to a Norwegian mother called Synni Lyngstad from whom she kept the surname, and a German soldier father later identified as Alfred Haase.

Her mother died when Frida was 2 years old, after that she was brought up by her grandmother. She moved with her to the Swedish town Eskilstuna, because in Narvik her history was stained. “I don’t like to talk about my childhood,” says Frida.

After two years of siege and discrimination, Synni Lyngstad, her mother Arntine, and little Frida, or the “German bastard” as she was called in the town, they emigrated to Sweden, to start a new life far from the indelible stigma of the Lebensborn program.
