Apr 3, 2014 · Hey guys, so I've recently been looking a lot at the new 8-core Avoton/Rangeley Atom boards by SuperMicro, they seem like very solid platforms for FreeNAS (moreso than the ASRock boards - better NIC and SATA controllers, more DIMMs, better layout). C2750 scores higher than the C2758 for some reason.

I was looking into getting the C2750 Atom for a freeNAS build so I looked up some benchmarks. It's pretty weak even for all those cores. Why wouldn't one just get a low TDP Pentium?

Feb 27, 2021 · I have a second generation FreeNAS Mini, the one with the ASRock Intel Avoton C2750. While this machine is perfectly serviceable and has been going like an absolute champ for about five years with minimal maintenance and upgrades, including attaching a small fan to the CPU to keep it cool because Australia, it is getting a bit long in the tooth.

Apr 3, 2014 · FreeNAS has nothing that benefits from QuickAssist and the C2750 supports AES-NI, so the C2750 is definitely the one more suited for NAS. I also think (but may be mistaken) that the C2758 does not support extended page tables, which is useful for virtualization (especially starting with 10.1).

Dec 22, 2024 · Intel says the Intel Atom® Prozessor C2750 SoC has 6 Sata ports, so the mainboard likely has an additional controller, as you wrote you have 8 disks. So maybe the MB has more than two additional ports?
