Fox's sign is a clinical sign in which bruising is seen over the inguinal ligament. It occurs in patients with retroperitoneal bleeding, usually due to acute haemorrhagic pancreatitis.

Aug 27, 2021 · Fox sign was named eponymously for John Adrian Fox (1933‒2018) who clinically and pathologically observed a bluish discoloration located in the upper outer aspect of the thigh (s) during the later course of their disease in two cases (acute pancreatitis and ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm) [2].

The assumed diaper dermatitis was suspected to be a Fox sign due to acute or necrotizing pancreatitis. The cause of death was eventually defined as a metastasized terminal stage pancreatic carcinoma.
