The FV721 Fox Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance (Wheeled) (CVR (W)) was a 4 × 4 armoured car manufactured by ROF Leeds, deployed by the British Army as a replacement for the Ferret scout car and the Saladin armoured car.

The ROF Leeds FV721 Fox CVR was a modernized, buffier and better armed development of the Daimler Ferret in 1969 and some 325 were built until 1980.

In 1973, the British Army began taking stock of the Alvis FV721 "Fox" armoured personnel carrier - a three-person 4x4 wheeled armoured system primarily used for mechanized reconnaissance missions. These vehicles replaced the outdated stocks of light "Ferrets" and 6x6 wheeled armored vehicles "Saladin" used at that time.

The Combat Vehicle Reconnaissance-Wheeled [CVR (W)] Fox was developed at the same time as the CVR-Tracked Series and is fitted with a similar turret as the Scimitar variant. The Fox was developed as a replacement to some Ferret Scout Variants, most notably the Ferret Mark 2/3 and Mark 4 "Big Wheel" variant.
