Le fort Rémy, d'abord appelé fort de Lachine, est un avant-poste, érigé dans les années 1670, à l'ouest de Ville-Marie servant de refuge aux habitants de Lachine [1].

In the 19th century, the village of Fort Rémy (LaSalle Borough) was gradually abandoned. By 1850, only a few families were still living around the old church built in 1701. Some residents wanted to have a new church built on the bank of the canal, but they couldn’t agree on a location.

This plaque is found on a small model of the first church of Lachine built within the walls of Fort Remy. It states that Pierre Remy was pastor here from 1680 until 1706. It is here that Guillaume Daoust married Marie-Madeleine Lalonde on February 18, 1686.
