Forgacs Marine and Defence, previously Forgacs Group and also simply known as Forgacs, is a major Australian engineering and shipbuilding company. It has facilities in Newcastle, Sydney, Brisbane and Gladstone.

Forgacs Shipyard / ˈ f ɔːr dʒ æ k s / [1] is a shipbuilding company located at Tomago, New South Wales on the Hunter River. It was originally opened in 1957 by John Laverick at Carrington as Carrington Slipways , and built 45 ships between then and 1968. [ 2 ]

Floating Dock Muloobinba is a floating dry dock that was owned by the Forgacs Group, and berthed at Carrington, within Newcastle Harbour, Australia. Built in Japan in 1977, Muloobinba arrived in Newcastle in 1978 and was based at the State Dockyard. She was later purchased by the Newcastle Port Corporation, and later Forgacs. [1]

In February 2016, Civmec acquired the Forgacs name and their land and assets in Tomago, New South Wales. The purpose-built shipyard is situated on the Hunter River, just 14 kilometres from the Port of Newcastle, with the 227,000 square metre site incorporating 535 metres of river frontage and two ship basins.

The Forgacs Group is now Australia's loading ship repairer and a major engineering and ship construction company. From it's Corporate Headquarters in Newcastle, the company controls its engineering, ship repair and Queensland.
