2000 Ford F-250 Super Duty Problems and Solutions - Edmunds
I own a Ford F-250 4X4 SD with a V 10. When I got it new, I was getting about 10.7 mpg. After the first oil change, mpg dropped to about 10.0 gradually, by the second oil change I was down to 9.7. After a round trip from Michigan to South Texas in December, I am down to about 9.3 or 9.2 mpg.

I do know of lots of guys that have F-250's and F-350's in the '94 to '97 range, and none of them seem to have any particular problems. The engine is pretty much bullet proof. So is the tranny IF it has had regular and frequent fluid changes and has never been allowed to overheat.

In my '99 F-250 Super Duty, Super Cab, Long Wheel base, auto trans, 3.73 LS and diesel the mileage is in the high 16's to low 17's in the Los Angeles freeway stop and stop traffic. I've got over 41K miles on it. I've taken the truck from Huntington Beach to Reno usually running 65 to 75 MPH on highway 395 and got 19 MPG.

Not sure about your model F-150, Ford may not use the typical black rubber vaccuum lines to go to the climate control on your truck. It may look almost like its colored wire about a quarter inch in diameter going up to the climate control air box up on the firewall.
