Thinking about that battery arrangement, since its on a swing out mechanism, I assume that they wanted to use a battery with both terminals on one end in aiding the routing the cables for it to swing out easily.

Mar 1, 2012 · Agree. I use a Group 65 to start my 3 cyl 4000 that was converted from gas to Diesel. I had to keep the gas battery tray due to the modified intake piping. The gas battery tray needed minor mods, but the battery fits (including hood clearance) and rolls the 201D over nicely. The battery I chose fits most Ford 7.3L PowerStrokes.

Aug 19, 2008 · A friends Ford 1966 4000(actually a 4101 model) has the charging system warning lamp on and a voltage check at the battery shows 12.5 volts at 1500 RPM-obviously not charging. I'm hoping someone could help me with troubleshooting suggestions.

Aug 5, 2015 · I have a Ford 4000 3 cyl. The genny is not charging. I checked the genny with a volt meter at the genny positive while running at 1000 rpm and it shows only 1.4 volts. Took belt off and attached wire from batt positive to positive on genny and the genny ran like a motor. With engine running 1000 plus rpm, voltage at the batt is 12.5 volts not ...

Nov 29, 2013 · keep doing that and you will keep burning up regs maybee. the genny needs polarization.. not the rg. many people polarize AT the reg for ease of getting to the terminals.. but keep in mind you don't want field terminals to have to conduct lotsa power.
