The Fokker Spin was the first airplane built by Dutch aviation pioneer Anthony Fokker. The many bracing wires used to strengthen the aircraft made it resemble a giant spider, hence its name Spin, Dutch for "spider".

The Fokker M.1 was the first aircraft designed by Fokker for the German Army. Two aircraft were built, based on his Spinne (“Spider”) design. These were complex looking monoplanes, held together by a network of cables that came together at the wheels and at a point above the fuselage, forming a distinctive web.

At the start of 1912 Fokker opened the Fokker Aeroplanbau GMBH company, located in Johannisthal , near to Berlin. Here he built several Spin’s. 10 were sold to the German army, indicated as M.1. The M.I was a two seat aircraft with a more closed fuselage.

From 1910, the year of the construction of the first Spin, many articles were published about Anthony Fokker's first aircraft, the “Spin”. Partly because most facts from this period are missing, many articles and book passages contadict each other.

The delicate-looking Fokker Spin was the very first aeroplane designed by Dutch aeronautical pioneer Anthony Fokker. He built it in 1910 together with Jacob Goedecker and business partner Franz von Daum who contributed the Argus engine.
